Info on World Of Warcraft, and its scam?

Hi, my little brother has been playing this game and it has consumed his life. I ask him all the time why he keeps playing and his response is always the same, "to get gear." So after talking to him, he says he pays for 49.99 for the game plus a $15 a month fee just to play. Now since he is paying this monthly fee shouldn't he be entittled to the same gear as the other people that play? does he have to play all these hours just to get it? I'm sure there has to be some consumer laws out there that go against this? just cause he can't play 40 hours a week dosn't mean he shoulnd't get the those items in the game? he pays for the game, he should have all the gear he wants without playing so much.. any info would help he is ruining his life over this game

World of Warcraft (possibly one of the most addicting games on the planet), is definitely not a scam. Like someone below me said, you have a character and level them from 1-70.

The goal is to get amazing gear, get honored with different factions, become a very skilled player at the class you play, and above all, have fun.

Getting the gear is the most fun part, in my opinion. To do this, you need to go into instances and raids, kill monsters, do quests, or buy it off the Auction House.

You're never going to get the best gear, because before you know it, Blizzard has added new armor.
Therefore, the game never ends.
There's always things to do.

As stated before, WoW is a game.
Seriously, what fun would a game be if EVERYONE had the same things?
It's competitive.
There would be absolutely NO POINT if all the eight million players of World of Warcraft were rewarded the same way, no matter what their skill level.
That would be an awfully boring game, in my opinion.
