I've had many laptops in recent years as Dell and HP, and I must say that until moment is one of my favorites. It's fast fast fast and very demanding walk up to seven programs simultaneously. This laptop is a big project (I love small HP logo on top, even if it is to decorate but not necessary) the keys are very sensitive and feel good between your fingers and everything is easy to install. I am a typing too fast and the laptop has no trouble keeping. I have two HP laptops and my two children have laptops and HP are all very happy with HP. This will be my travel laptop, because it is less severe, but as a lighter replacement equipment is large smaller. If you want a team large with a full keyboard and a small keyboard that will last for years and then the laptop for you. I upgraded to 2170 instead of 2150 at least one processor better and bigger hard drive. I use this notebook at least four years for an investment of little more only makes sense to me. I'm a professional TI, so I know my stuff in terms of computer / laptop and I can say is one of the best especially for the money.

far exceeds my expectations

I am an engineer working with high-end computers and different operating systems on a day basis. I have a work laptop (Compaq 6910p) but this is my first personal laptop and the first experience with Windows 7. My old computer was a Compaq desktop computer with Windows XP that I bought ~ 8 years Ago has had no problem (and it had to have replaced the floppy drive for several years). While I was growing tired of waiting 10 seconds for open a window, it was hard for me to spend on something I already had. but now (a week after owning the dv6-2170us) do not regret it!
I did a lot amazon.com research before buying this laptop. My requirements were Windows 7 Home Premium, at least 4 GB of RAM (this laptop is expandable up to 8 GB of RAM), processor high-end (see [...] - this processor is in the category of "high end"), high-definition monitor (absolutely beautiful, even capable graphics 3D, however, I have not tried this), double layer DVD optical, high capacity hard disk (500 GB is more than he probably ever use.)
also of my needs, this team has bluetooth, longer battery life I've heard of (up to 8 hours), a remote control (it will be useful when watching movies on my bed, however, I bought a 23 "HDTV monitor to connect via an HDMI cable for this laptop) and a built-in webcam (Photo shows a good resolution, ???).
i was initially concerned with the design of "espresso" (it does not bother me at all, in fact, i kind of like it because I can focus on fingerprint stains - I'm a bit of a clean freak) and 15 "would not be large enough (more than enough).
I'm amazed at how fast this laptop works. I guess this is partly because of windows 7, but may just be the processor of this Laptop, RAM, bus, etc.
my only complaints that I was not aware that the battery of this laptop would give you a bubble butt (however, i do not care because I like the way that angles the keyboard to access my hands ... as a docking station is) and you have to create your own DVD 'recovery system (however, only ~ 20 minutes to do this by myself.)
I have arthritis in my hands / wrist computer use (generally not, this team) for long periods of time without rest for several years, so pay attention to ergonomic design today. I like the keyboard and touch (mouse) in this portable platform. I was pleasantly surprised that the keyboard includes a numeric keypad as well. However, I have purchased the wireless keyboard and mouse hp Elite package ($ 15 at dealpal), which should appear within the next day or two.
Overall I was very happy customer (yes, even you could say I love it!)

Great PC, but big enough for use in aircraft

I think this team is great. The screen is very clear, it works every time you turn it on, and I like the feel of the keyboard.

Pros:

1. Large enough to read the screen.
2. Very clear screen.
3. Keyboard has good feel.
4. Mouse Pad feels good.
5. Nice feature set.
6. Great price for all these features.

Cons:

1. 12 cell battery that makes it stick in the back (You may think this is an advantage if used at a desk all the time and as the angle).
2. It's a bit heavy especially great battery life.
3. It is difficult to open all the way on a plane especially if the person ahead of you are rude and leans back in his workspace.
4. Wireless is not very good. I can get better reception on my old "g" in the same notebook Dell Wireless-N router. I thought this one would be better and which has built in wireless-N

I also want to praise Amazon for fast shipping and excellent customer service. The team needed quickly for a trip and that made it possible.

Update: Since I use this for several months I found the wireless network works much better than I thought in the beginning and the battery life is pretty good and worth the extra weight. I love it. I'm raising my review to 5 stars. It has performed flawlessly during the months I've been to several business trips and a cruise of two weeks.

DV6 start-2170us

So far I am quite happy with my new DV6-2170us. It is not intended to run the software that fiscal but after my first week that has worked well with applications that I have. HP technical support was horrible, but I expected. (During the process of operationalizing Office 2003 I was informed that, among other things, Office 2003 was not oompatible, even with Windows 7 Professional, and my router was not compatible with Windows 7! Both problems were overcome a few minutes of help from my ISP technical people).

I allow Windows 7 Professional immediately, and I did the download Emulator XP (all 400 MB!) I did not need the emulator to date, however. I can not speak for Windows 7 Premium, but is compatible with Office Professional 2003 Professional, XP and all my other applications. (Sony Sound Stage, Starry Night Pro, Photoshop, a British-based laboratory data acquisition system, a many others.) If you are using the emulator for XP, not take into account all the processors are compatible. (Y is required to enable the processor mode XP emulation in BIOS).

You can read the results of performance in reviews by others. I'm still busy uninstall unwanted software provided by HP. Again, with the exception of HP support, I am very happy.

DV6 new model with the new CPU and graphics

If you're looking at DV6 notebook line you may have noticed that there are several new models with model numbers such as "DV6-21xx." These are basically the same notebook as previous models with a new cpu / graphics combo that dramatically improves performance. Like the previous generation DV6 is well constructed with a metallic black exterior (HP also offers white versions). Check out the art of shell, as it is something that can not appeal to everyone. I bought mine for my mother-in-law and is clearly seen to have something a little more individual than the usual dull gray exterior. Despite the glossy exterior we have not noticed much in the way of fingerprints or scratches despite helping hands of our children who like to "help" her grandmother with her computer.

The specifications of this model are set well above what the average homeowner today's needs that the future (in my mind) evidence very well. If you are on a tight budget, you can get what you need for less (look at the HP Pavilion G60 line). If you have a little more to spend and want a little headroom to handle your computing needs for the coming years, this is a great option.

CPU - This is one of the first models HP sports the new Intel "Core i5" line of CPUs. The short version is that surpasses the old "Core 2" chips and is slightly better than the (also) new "Core i3" chips. As noted in the description is part of 2.26 GHz that can "Turbo Boost" up to 2.53GHz. What is not mentioned is that this is a dual-core part with 3 MB of cache. This may sound a lot like the old Core 2 chips, but do not be fooled: This chip will outperform the old Core2 by 20% -50%. If you are trying to decide between "i5" and "Core i3" I would recommend the i5 to the players and the people who run high-end applications (Such as CAD software) and i3 for those implementing business applications (like MS Office) and web browsing. If you want to know more read on. If you bored nerd things then just trust me, this is a very good chip to have in your laptop.

Well here is why the i5 is a big problem: The Core i5 (and i3) are Intel's newest, smallest core and faster processor (also known as the "Westmere" nucleus), which is two generations newer than the "Penryn" core used in the Core 2 line. For with each generation become more parties a small price to do. Westmere core also has included Intel graphics chipset and a new chip in a package that also reduces cost (and allows Intel to make some new performance tricks and cool). One thing the i3 i5 Core and Core 2 are that it is "hyperthreading". Hyperthreading is a feature that makes two act as four CPUs. To this end, Intel has allowed each CPU core to operate on two software threads simultaneously. So the two CPUs is almost i5 as good as part of the CPU four for a lot less money and require much less power (there are few four-core mobile CPU out there, but the duration Battery is terrible and I do not recommend). Hyperthreading is something all users can benefit from: no longer see your computer slow to a crawl because their anti-virus Windows 7 kicks in just dump it off in a new thread and still humming surf the web or play a game. The main difference between the i3 and i5 Core is that it i5 "Turboboost" (which can speed up the CPU or graphics chip, as necessary) and no i3. If not stressing the CPU or graphics chip then the turboboost found on the i5 will not do much for you.

RAM - 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM combined with a 64-bit operating system which should provide more than enough memory for almost any application you can think outside of the final games extremely high. Note that most laptops come over to "DDR2" and it has "DDR3". The main difference is that "DDR3" uses 20% less energy "DDR2" which of course is equal to life a little better battery life.

HDD - 500GB unit is much more space than most users need (few people use more than 100 GB). HP also offers units from 320 GB and 640 GB on some models. It works at 7200 RPM, but HP has a version running in 5400. The unit of 7,200 rpm delivers improved performance, but the failure rate is slightly higher than slower units 5400. I have a slight preference for the slowest unit because I like bugs hard disk but the fact the 7200 units have improved to the point where there is not much difference in failure rates further.

Graphics - This model is used Intel uses new "HD" graphics that are far beyond their age "X4500 chip. You can actually make some 3D game on this laptop, although newer high-quality 3D games will be executed in the reduction settings. Online games like World of Warcraft run better in the setting of reduction. You can do 1080p HD graphics note this model does not have a Blu-ray, so I'm not sure that matters most (the only ones I know DV6 Blu-ray models with custom ordered directly from HP).

Screen - I do not like about a year ago DV6 HP lights out of 16 "screen slightly smaller than 15.6 ". Since the 1366 x 768 LED BrightView widescreen model does not disappoint. The interior is surprisingly bright with blacks strong (notebook screens are too bright without depth). Outdoor will have some problems with glare, but better than a lot of competitors. I like that the screen provides a good amount of vertical space without exaggeration. The difference between 15.6 "and 14 bis" is amazing (go compare them at a store if you have not the opportunity).

Sound - Surprisingly good sound for a laptop. The speakers are well positioned and offer a good range. I've heard better, but was $ 3K in a notebook.

Battery - HP battery packs of 12 lithium ion cells in this model, but most models DV6 a 6-cell. If you are much in the way the cell 12 is nice. Home users who plan to connect a lot probably will not mind. Personally I prefer the cell 12. The 6 cell will give 2-4 hours of actual use and the 12 cell will give you 3-6 hours (HP says that "up to seven hours" on their website, but that's only if you do everything possible to keep energy). The cell 12 will stand out a bit in the back and adds about 1 / 5 of a pound weight.

Operating System - This model of the "Premium" version of Windows 7. The "SB" (small business) models have the Windows 7 "Professional" version. Windows 7 Premium is good for most users, but the Pro version allows you to back over a network and better support for older software (which is basically Windows XP can run in the background for old programs.) Most home users will be fine with Windows 7 Premium, but if you have a lot of old software may consider getting a laptop with Windows 7 Pro (which adds a little cost of the notebook).

Optical Drive: Standard HP DVD / CD RW with LightScribe. If you Lightscribe has not used that basically allows you to save the black text or images on LightScribe compatible CD or DVD. A typical image burn takes 20 minutes or less. It's nice to have, but be aware of the images are a bit boring. I've noticed mine fade over but mostly burn copies of CDs for my children and are rough regard.

I have no serious "cons" of this team. The "Touch Media Controls" for things like the volume (as opposed to push buttons) are a little strange at first, but we got used to them quickly and well, look great when lit. Also, do not find the remote including planning for the helpful but anyone to connect this to your TV might like. I suspect that most people are just going to put in a drawer and forget him.

If you are looking at different models DV6 trying to decide what to buy my advice is (on the basis of the models available when I wrote this):

- For home users who are not players you can save about $ 100 if you go with the HP Pavilion dv6-2150US 15.6-inch notebook which combines i3 Core processor with Win 7 Premium and a 6-cell battery. Performance due to lack of game software will be very close to the most expensive models will save money by going i5 Windows 7 Premium and a smaller battery.

- If you need good battery life, run software more effect, or like the game a bit to go to the HP Pavilion 2170us dv6-i5 combining the battery cell 12. Intel graphics are not the best, but it is a great improvement over previous products. This is the model I think has the best balance of features.

- If things play more than the battery life, you should probably look into other lines laptops, but if sold in the DV6 go for the HP Pavilion 2190US dv6, which has a Quad Core i7 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce 230M GT. It only has a 6-cell battery and the CPU and graphics that will drain it quickly. On the positive side is the only model in this group with gigabit ethernet (most users will be fine with [Ethernet 10/100 which is more than enough for several teams surf the web], but if you want or need 10/100/1000 Ethernet only the higher end models DV6 do).

- If you have a lot of old software on the HP Pavilion has dv6 Editionwhich-2157SB Small Business Pro comes with Windows (which can run software a core of old WinXP) 7. Core has a i3 and a 6-cell battery. It also has a different ending ("Plaid Mocha") but I have not seen so I can not comment.

To finish it all: you can always buy more features for more money, but if you are Looking for a notebook with some high-end features and build quality high level this is an excellent choice. HP spends the money in the right places and has created a high end laptop at a price average. I think the HP Pavilion dv6-2150US 15.6-inch laptop is one of the best values we have today, but I prefer features offered in the HP Pavilion dv6-2170us. If you are a student you may want to check out PS "Academy" program that offers students discounts (which may be difficult to find on the HP website - just search for "HP Academy").
